Morton Teen Center

06 April, 2015 United States, Washington, Community

Local pilots host an event to raise funds for the Morton Teen Center in Morton, WA.

The Morton Teen Center is place for youth of the rural Washington town of Morton, grades 6-12, which strives to provide a safe, fun and creative environment.  The Teen Center is a true community effort, with support from community members to fund property costs, the Chamber of Commerce for operations, and staffing by Americorps.  The budgets are tight, but the community has kept the doors open since 2002.

Through fundraising / fly-in/ social event, the Cloudbase Foundation and KarmaFlights raised over $3,500 for the Morton Teen Center!  A picture perfect launch site of Area 151 provided tandem flights for donations, solo flights, a dinner was served, live music until well into the night, and a charity auction.  Not to mention a keg and an excavator rope swing! A good time was had by all.

The Teen Center plans to put funds to immediate use by replacing the old and dilapidated carpet in the facility. Additional funds will likely go towards new programs, training for staff, and general supplies such as music and computer games.
